Court Issues Warrants for Ndiga Clan Leader Murder Suspects

The Criminal Division of the High Court in Kampala has issued fresh production warrants for three suspects accused of murdering Ndiga Clan leader, Engineer Daniel Bbosa Kakeedo, after they failed to appear in court for plea.

The warrants were issued on Wednesday by Justice David Matovu after proceedings stalled because only two of the five accused persons, Tabula Lujja and Ezra Mayanja, were produced before court.

Court heard that the three absent accused—Noah Lugya, Harriet Nakiguli and Joseph Nakabale—are being held at Kitalya Prison, Luzira Women’s Prison and Kigo Prison, respectively.

However, the respective prison authorities reportedly did not receive production warrants requiring them to present the suspects before court. Justice Matovu directed that fresh production warrants be issued to the three prison facilities to ensure all the accused appear at the next court session.

. The case was adjourned to July 23, 2026, when all five accused persons are expected to take a plea before the High Court.

The suspects were committed to the High Court in October 2024 by the then Mwanga II Chief Magistrate’s Court after the completion of investigations into the murder of Engineer Daniel Bbosa Kakeedo.

According to the DPP’s summary of evidence, Engineer Bbosa was shot dead on February 25, 2024, at around 5:55 p.m. as he approached his home in Lungujja, Kampala.

The prosecution alleges that the murder stemmed from a long-running dispute over the leadership of the Ndiga Clan.

According to the DPP, Tabula Lujja had opposed Bbosa’s leadership for more than three decades, claiming the position rightfully belonged to his lineage.

The DPP alleges that meetings held between November and December 2023 at Tabula’s home in Mpigi discussed eliminating Bbosa after attempts to remove him through the Kisekwa Court failed.
