Six Killed in Nile Star Bus Crash, 14 injured

Six people have been confirmed dead and 14 critically injured following a deadly road crash along the busy Karuma-Packwach highway this Monday morning.

The crash involving a Nile Star bus and a trailer truck happened at about 1.00 am Monday at Lapok Mor cell in Purongo Town Council in Nwoya district.

The bus was reportedly enroute to Kampala from Koboko district.

Initial reports indicated three people had died on the spot following the crash.

However, Nwoya Resident District Commissioner Christopher Omara told Uganda Radio Network in an interview that so far six people have been confirmed dead. He said 14 others sustained critical injuries and were by press time receiving medical treatment from Anaka General Hospital in Anaka Town Council.

Omara said the deceased persons were also transported to Anaka General Hospital morgue pending postmortem.

According to the RDC, police officers are conducting investigation into the exact cause of the road crash. However, preliminary information indicated the bus driver was speeding resulting into a head on collision.
