Police in Fort Portal City are investigating the death of a 17-year-old student of St. Leo’s College, Kyegobe, who is suspected to have taken his own life by hanging.
The deceased, identified as Douglas Ahurra, a Senior Three student, reportedly left home on Wednesday evening, telling his mother that he was going to collect firewood from a nearby valley.
According to a statement released by Vincent Twesige, the Rwenzori West Police Spokesperson, Ahurra untied a rope from a cow and went towards the eucalyptus trees in the valley.
Twesige revealed that minutes later, he was found hanging from a tree in the garden of a neighbour.
Twesige says that the Police have since recorded statements from witnesses and opened inquiries into the incident.
