One person has been killed in an accident in Seeta, Mukono. The crash involved two Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) trucks and a concrete mixer.
The deceased has been identified as Droma Vasco, a State House employee.
The accident, according to Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, happened at around 5:45 am at Seeta near Victory Church, Mukono Municipality.
The UPDF truck has been identified as H4DF268 and H4DF1156, while another truck has been identified as RAI 647B. The accident caused traffic diversions along Jinja highway.
Traffic Police Spokesperson Michael Kananura says that the crash blocked the highway in the affected area and greatly disrupted traffic flow. He added that the situation was further compounded by increased traffic expected because of the football match at Namboole Stadium.
Following the accident, all motorists were advised to follow the alternative routes through Mukono-Kalagi-Gayaza Road to Kampala for heavy trucks.
