Kenzo Claims He Negotiated with Govt for King Saha Concert Approval

As Ugandans gear up for the 2026 general elections,the senior presidential advisor on creatives Eddy Kenzo Musuuza has warned artistes that have political ambitions to go slow arguing that politics will kill their careers.

Several Ugandan artistes and entertainers plus media personalities have expressed interest in taking part in the upcoming polls that seek to get leaders that will lead from 2026-2031

Speaking during a live television interview on Monday evening Kenzo said artistes that will participate in the polls risk losing their careers because politics is too expensive and its a gamble since one is not sure if they will win or nor

“If you are still interested in your career, please avoid elective politics as much as possible because we have already seen the negative impacts of this in the entertainment industry as several shows have been flopping because of having a divided fan base,” he said

He said politics is the reason why some concerts are likely not to happen and said the trend of having politically motivated concerts by some artistes was killing the entertainment industry in Uganda

“ I made several phone calls to make sure that King Saha’s concert happened because the show was not going to happen, fortunately, the authorities allowed it after several meetings with the stakeholders,” he said

The Uganda Police Force finally authorised singer Mansur Ssemanda, alias King Saha, to hold his much-anticipated concert on January 24, 2025, at the Lugogo Cricket Oval, after initially halting it the previous day ostensibly due to safety concerns.

Some of the artistes that have expressed interest in standing for elective politics include Big Eye,who is likely to stand for Nansana Municipality member of Parliament, Comedian Rein,Kapere and of recent singer Khalifa Aganaga,who will be standing for member of parliament for Kawempe North in a by election that was caused by the death of the former area MP Mohammad Segirinya.
