Private Schools Association Urges Stricter Safety Standards for School Trips

The National Private Educational Institutions Association in Uganda (NPEIA-UG) has called on the government to strengthen safety standards governing school educational tours.

The appeal follows several tragic road accidents, including the recent Kapchorwa crash that claimed the lives of more than 22 pupils from King David Junior School and the school’s Director, Tadeo Ssekadde.

NPEIA-UG National Chairperson Hasadu Kirabira said educational tours should not be banned but instead made safer through stricter regulations.

He emphasized that such trips play an important role in learning, skills development, and workforce preparation, adding that six school-related road accidents have already occurred this month.
