Matt B Offers his Grammy Awards to Uganda Museum

American singer and song writer Matt B has donated his Grammy Awards to the Uganda Museum noting that the move is aimed at recognizing Ugandan creatives that contributed to the making of his Alkebulan II album, which enabled him to win the awards.

 

He donated the awards to the museum after meeting officials of the Uganda Tourism Board on Wednesday 23rd, July, 2025.

 

In a statement, he said it was an honor to share the rewards of the hard work each Ugandan creative put in while doing the music album that enabled him to win the awards.

 

“Today marked a pivotal moment for East Africa’s history. I traveled all the way to Uganda to hand deliver the first two GRAMMY Awards to ever touch East Africa and Uganda and It was an honor to share this moment with my brothers, all of them worked very hard on the project alongside Angela and I. Huge thank you to the Uganda Tourism Board for being part of this historic moment,” he said.

 

At the 67th Annual Grammy Awards in 2025, Matt B won Best Global Music Album for Alkebulan II, a project deeply rooted in African culture and creativity.

 

He paid special tribute to Ugandan creatives who played a pivotal role in the album’s success, including producers Bashkilla and BiT HD, as well as a team of gifted songwriters: Ghost Elnino, Rulz, Ziginana, and Tarley.

 

These contributors are expected to receive official Certificates of Recognition from the Recording Academy for their work on the Grammy-winning album.

 

He said the awards must be preserved in the Uganda Museum as tools of promoting local tourism and also act as a beacon of inspiration for aspiring artists across Africa.
