US based Ugandan recording artiste and medical doctor Amos Kigenyi aka Gen. Mega Dee has said that he will be retiring from the music industry at the end of 2025.
He said he is set to retire from recording and doing shows because he feels his time is up and he would like to use much of his time to concentrate on his medical work, which became a full time job in the US.
“ I’m retiring from music this year and I would like to thank my Ugandan fans and supporters both at home and in the diaspora for the support they have given me over the years,” he said in a social media interview.
Mega Dee said he did his last concert in Canada on 17th, May, 2025 where he performed with veteran ragga and dance hall artiste Emperor Orlando, who is also living and working in Canada as a music promoter and events manager.
“ We held a concert in Canada in mid May 2025 and this was my last concert there as an artiste,” he added.
He started his music career in early 2000 with Menton Kronno and the two produced songs which became popular and catapulted them to fame before they later went to the US to pursue other careers.
Mega Dee is now a certified and qualified medical professional while Menton Kronno is also living and working in the USA.
In 2021, Mega Dee graduated with a degree in healthcare management from the California Intercontinental University.
Before going to the US, Mega Dee had graduated with a degree in Urban planning from Makerere University whereas Menton Kronno graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from Makerere University.
