The International Crimes Division of the Highcourt has sentenced to 46 years, Tukwasibwe Junior, a Teacher who was convicted of raping his students.
On 20th June 2025, Tukwasibwe was found guilty of 6 counts including aggravating trafficking in children, aggravated defilement, rape and operating an unapproved children’s home.
On Friday morning, Justice Richard Wejuli Wabwire handed down his sentence to Tukwasibwe, whom he condemned for using deception and sexually exploiting vulnerable girls between 14 and 16 years.
Accordingly Justjce Wabwire has ordered that Tukwasibwe be imprisoned for 46 years for Defilement, 30years for aggravated trafficking and another 46 years for rape.
The judge has however ordered that the sentences are to run concurrently and a period of 6 years Tukwasibwe has spent on remand be deducted .
Justice Wabwire had further imposed a court fine of 5 currency points ( shs 100,000) to Tukwasibwe for operating an unapproved Children’s home in Kabale on top of paying a 5 million shillings compensation award to each of the three girls he exploited.
The said award is to cater for the psychological abuse , infliction of pain and loss of dignity by administering non-consensual family planning injections and pills.
Evidence showed that between 2013 and 2018 Tukwasibwe, set up a Children’s Home at Gaaju Cell Nyabikoni Ward, Central District and pretended to be caring for vulnerable girls whereas the main goal was to sexually exploit them.
Further evidence showed that Tukwasibwe used to administer Family Planning pills and injections to the girls in order to prevent them from getting pregnant.
Tukwasibwe had pleaded to the Court for a short sentence so that he can come out and take care of his own family, elderly Mother and other dependants .
Justice Wejuli explained that Tukwasibwe has a right of Appeal within 14 days from the date of sentencing.
