Abitex and Co. Kicked Out of Gulu as Gen. Saleh Rejects Meeting with Promoters

Ugandan music promoters left Gulu City furious after the head of the Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) General Salim Saleh Akandwanaho refused to meet them.

According to information from the failed meeting that was supposed to take place on Saturday 2^nd, August, 2025, the General refused to meet them because he was not expecting them as he was unaware of their presence in Gulu.

When they reached his office, they wanted to use force to access it but were told to choose two people to represent them who included Abbey Musinguzi of Abitex Promotions and Hajji Musa Kavuma of KT events and the rest of the group were told to head to Acholi Inn and wait.

When they insisted on using force to access the venue alongside their representatives the angry General ordered his body guards to beat them in order to force them off the premises and in the end, several of the group included Norbert events were severely beaten and wounded.

This forced them to flee Gulu with immediate effect with the General warning them never to come back without an appointment.

Abbey Musinguzi (Abitex) said they went there seeking to be included on the list of beneficiaries of the 33 billion shillings that the government allocated to the creative industry in the 2025/2026 financial year

He said they deserve to be included in government programs because they also contribute to the creative sector by organizing concerts for musicians.

However, analysts have rejected their demands saying promoters are business men who only come in when artistes have made it in their careers and their job is to make quick money off the sweat of the creatives, as a result they don’t qualify to benefit from the state support to the creative industry.

They have been advised them to join Kampala business associations since they are business men who are only interesting in the business of making money through events.
