Court Further Remands Woman over Bukoto Bar Waitress Murder

The City Hall Magistrates Court has further remanded a 21-year-old woman to Luzira Prison over the alleged murder of former Bukoto bar waitress Jovia Namuwulya. 

 

Patricia Rose Turindwamukama returned to court on Tuesday for an update on the status of investigations into the murder and aggravated robbery charges against her.

Turindwamukama, who is described in police documents as self-employed and a resident of Mukalazi Zone, Bukoto I Parish, Nakawa Division in Kampala, has been in Luzira Prison since September 7, 2026, when she was first arraigned. 

 

State Attorney Mariam Akite told the court, presided over by Senior Principal Grade One Magistrate Nicholas Aisu, that investigations were still ongoing and asked for more time to complete them.

The court adjourned the case to October 15, 2026, for mention. Turindwamukama is accused of murdering Namuwulya, whom the prosecution describes as her alleged host, and subsequently participating in an aggravated robbery. 

 

The prosecution alleges that Turindwamukama and another person who is still at large committed the offences during the night of August 20, 2026, at Mukalazi Zone in Bukoto I Parish, Nakawa Division, Kampala.

The prosecution alleges that the two, acting with malice aforethought, unlawfully caused Namuwulya’s death. 

 

Turindwamukama also faces a charge of aggravated robbery under Sections 266 and 267(2) of the Penal Code Act. Prosecution alleges that during the same incident, the accused and her alleged accomplice robbed Namuwulya of an iPhone 12 Pro Max valued at Shs2 million, a cream-white bag valued at Shs150,000, clothes valued at Shs200,000 and a passport bearing number B00263181.

The charge sheet further alleges that a knife, described as a deadly weapon, was used during or around the alleged robbery and that Namuwulya was subsequently murdered. 

 

The offences are capital in nature and are triable by the High Court.
