Police Arrest Eight Over Viral Video Allegedly Linked to Violent Crimes

Police in Kampala have arrested eight suspects in connection with a viral social media video in which a group of men allegedly boast about attacking members of the public and breaking their jaws and teeth. 

They are Mohammed Matiti, alias Beast Commander, Nurudin Kasule, alias 2 I/C , Umar Mubiru, Lukooya Adams, Kiyimba Martin, Alinda Yosam Junior, James Walumu and Elvis Simanya.

The suspects were arrested on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, during an intelligence-led operation at Gojo Gym in Namungona, Rubaga Division, Kampala. Kampala Metropolitan Area Police spokesperson Rachel Kawala said four of the eight suspects arrested are allegedly seen in the viral video. 

“Police conducted an intelligence-led operation at Gojo Gym in Namungona where eight suspects were arrested. Four of the suspects are allegedly seen in the viral video that has been circulating on social media,” Kawala said.

In the video, the group allegedly claims to have attacked several people and broken their jaws and teeth. They are also accused of demanding a share of money earned by dentists treating their alleged victims and threatening to attack medical practitioners who fail to comply. Police said preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects were using the gym, purportedly for boxing training, as a meeting point to plan and coordinate violent criminal activities.

The group is suspected of involvement in robberies, housebreaking, theft, phone snatching, use of deadly weapons and unlawful possession of narcotic substances. Kawala said the last four suspects were found at the gym premises, with some allegedly found in possession of suspected narcotic substances. “They are currently in police custody pending court proceedings. Efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend other individuals seen in the viral video and establish their possible involvement in reported criminal activities,” Kawala said.

Police have appealed to members of the public who may have fallen victim to the group, or anyone with information about their activities, to report to Old Kampala Police Station or the nearest police station. “We encourage members of the public to provide police with any information that may assist in identifying other suspects or victims connected to the incidents,” Kawala added. Police said the gym has been placed under surveillance as investigations continue.
