Eddy Kenzo Applauds Mehran Matin following Grammy Nomination

Singer Eddy Kenzo has applauded Iran based musician Mehran Matin for the collaboration on the song Hope and Love that snatched a nomination for the 68th edition of the Grammy awards.

In a live television interview on Tuesday 10th, November, 2025, Kenzo said he is surprised by the nomination considering the fact that Mehran is not a global music star but an ordinary musician in the Middle Eastern country.

He is not a big star like some African artistes. Grammy nominations are not based on how big or small an artiste profile is but it is based the quality of the song in terms of originality, culture and the message,” he said.

He said their song ‘hope and love’ made it to the nomination list because the song is about spreading the message of hope due to the fact that Iran and Uganda have the same social, economic and political challenges

“ We are living in countries where messages of peace and love must be promoted because our people are divided because of many factors that include tribe, religion, politics, social injustices among other factors,” he said.

He attributed his second nomination to knowing how to research on the kind of songs to record for global recognition.

I invested a lot of time and money in research about the Grammy’s awards and it’s the reason why I got this nomination. Am very happy for myself and Mehran because we are simple people who live and work in third world countries and we urge the world to rally behind us and support us because we have potential to win the award,” he added.
