Motorcycle Spare Parts Dealer Shot Dead in Jinja

A motorcycle spare parts dealer has been shot dead in Jinja. Peter Musila was shot dead on Thursday along the Buwenge-Luzinga road at around 8:30 am.

Musila was traveling on a motorcycle with another passenger from Luzinga trading center in Wankole sub-county, Kamuli district.

The motorcycle rider, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, says that he picked Musila outside his shop to Jinja City, where he was meant to purchase items, and along the way, they carried another female passenger.

The boda boda rider says that before setting off from Musila’s shop, he noticed a numberless saloon car of the premio make parked about 20 meters away. He says that the vehicle kept trailing them at a distance, but despite being suspicious, he ignored it.

However, when they reached Busiya I, the occupants of the saloon car bypassed them at high speed, blocking part of the road. One armed man jumped out of the vehicle and shot towards them, killing Musila instantly.

The female passenger says that one of the armed men put the two at gunpoint while the others searched Musila’s body and stole unspecified sums of money.  She says that the armed men grabbed their phones, forced them to lie face down on the ground and sped off.

Aidah Bawaya, the L.CI Chairperson of Busiya I village, wants police to beef security in the area, as several traders have been attacked by thugs, who stage illegal road blocks to rob their victims.

The Kiira regional police spokesperson, James Mubi, has confirmed the incident but declined to divulge further details.
