Two soldiers who were travelling as escorts to Senior Presidential Advisor and NRM Kayunga District Chairperson, Moses Karangwa Kalisa, are receiving treatment following a fatal road accident in Kayunga District.

‎The injured guards, identified as Private Atukwase Prosper, 29, attached to the UPDF Engineering Brigade at Lubonge Barracks, and Private Geoffrey, were among three passengers who sustained injuries when their vehicle overturned. ‎

According to Sezibwa Region Police Spokesperson Hellen Butoto, the accident occurred at Ssuka Village near Lake Oil fuel station along the Kayunga-Jinja Highway on Sunday at around 10:40 p.m. ‎

‎Butoto explained that the driver, who was travelling from Jinja to Kayunga in an official Toyota Hilux, registration number UG 0101151, collided with an unknown motorcyclist who was joining the road at Ssuka Village. The driver then lost control, causing the vehicle to swerve off the road and overturn.

‎The Minister for the Presidency, Milly Babalanda, described Karangwa as a valued member of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) and said he would be remembered for his loyalty to the party.

‎“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family during this difficult time. May his soul rest in eternal peace.” Babalanda said on X account. ‎
