Katanga Widow Makes Third Bail Attempt

Molly Katanga  widow to slain Businessman Henry Katanga has made a 3rd attempt to bail as a new judge  takes over  the hearing of the high profile murder case.

Moly Katanga is accused of killing her husband and is in the dock alongsideh five people who are accused of being behind the murder of the businessman 

As the case resumed for trial on Tuesday , Deputy Registrar Festo Nsenga briefed the parties  that a new Lady  judge Comfort Kania  has taken over the matter because the previous judge Isaac Muwata is reportedly sick .

At the time of  adjournment of the case on December 5th last year, 10 prosecution witnesses had testified against the accused persons who include the  widow, Molly Katanga,  her two daughters Martha Nkwanzi and Patricia Kakwanza.

Others are Charles Otai, a medic and  George Amanyire a shamba boy at the Katanga residence.

The widow is treated as  the key suspect in the 3rd / November 2023  murder of her husband .

Also during Tuesday’s brief proceedings, the defense lawyers led by Jet Tumwebaze and Elison Karuhanga, intimated to court  that the widow Molly Katanga  has filed a fresh bail application which is due for hearing on 7th February.  

On the previous two unsuccessful occasions, Justice Muwata declined to release  the widow on bail, reasoning that no exceptional circumstances such as sickness and old age were proved.
