Jenkins Mukasa Condemns Political Influence in Music Industry, Calls for Focus on Art

Music analyst Jenkins Mukasa, whose real name is Moses Anthony Mukasa, has voiced concerns over the growing influence of politics in the music industry.

Mukasa warned that artists who prioritize political agendas over music risk diminishing the quality of their art and disappointing their audiences.

In a statement, Mukasa urged musicians to focus on their craft and warned that mixing music with politics has led to declining concert attendance.

“If you don’t have music, don’t stage a concert,” Mukasa stated.

He cautioned that political alignments are alienating fans on all sides, from government supporters to opposition loyalists.

He noted that several artists have seen their concerts fail as a result, calling it a clear sign of audience dissatisfaction.

Mukasa referenced the recent backlash against fellow artist David Lutalo, whose political statements stirred debate among fans and critics alike.

He argued that politics is distracting musicians from honing their art, ultimately disrupting the industry.

“Musicians should stop mixing music and politics. Music should stand alone,” Mukasa said, adding that fans primarily seek music, not political messages.

Mukasa highlighted ongoing concerns within Uganda’s entertainment circles about the effects of political division on the music industry’s growth and stability.

As artists continue to navigate this tension, Mukasa’s call to refocus on music may resonate with fans and professionals seeking to preserve the art form’s authenticity.
