Court Assessor Given Two Days To Give Opinion On Kagezi Murder

The International Crimes Division of the High Court is currently in a crucial phase as Lady Assessor Judith Muhairwe faces an urgent deadline. 

 

She has only two days to prepare her comprehensive opinion, which she must deliver by Friday this week. 

 

Her task is to advise the court on the fate of three suspects charged with the shocking murder of former Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions, Joan Kagezi Namazzi. 

 

This tragic incident allegedly took place on March 30, 2015, in the bustling neighborhood of Kiwatule, located in Kampala district.

The individuals charged in this grave case Kibuuka John, Masajjage John, and Nassur Abdullah Mugonoleare accused of having orchestrated this brutal crime and have been embroiled in legal proceedings since 2025.

 

 After the prosecution concluded its presentation of evidence, the court proceeded to grant the suspects the opportunity to defend themselves in front of the panel.

In an effort to support the Assessor, the court has taken the step of summarizing the evidence presented thus far. Although Judith Muhairwe lacks formal legal training, she has closely followed the unfolding narrative of the case, representing the public’s interest. 

 

This summary will serve to aid her understanding as she prepares to determine whether the evidence warrants a conviction or an acquittal of the suspects.
