The Buganda Road court Chief magistrate Ronald Kayiizi has released on bail Noah Mitala commonly known as Noah Mutwe after he clocked the mandatory 60 days on remand without trial.
Mutwe is charged with inciting violence and spreading hate speech against several members of the first family including the president and his son Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
The magistrate has ordered Nuwa Mutwe to pay cash 5 million shillings and for his sureties to execute a non cash bond of 50 million shillings each to ensure his return to court for trial .
Mutwe, a private bodg guard to NUP president Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobiwine has also been prohibited from travelling out of Uganda without the court’s permission.
He is co-jointly charged with ASP Twine Charles under the computer misuse Act where allegations state that the duo used a computer to exchange messages inciting to kill the president and his son with a pavers.
Twine was last month released on bail. However, the NUP leadership insists the bail fee of 5 million shillings is exorbitant for its member.
The NUP Secretary General Lewis Rubongoya condemned what he termed as prohibitive bail fees for trivial charges, he noted that someone like Noah Mutwe cannot afford such high bail fees, he however noted that the NUP party will post the bail like it has done for many of its party members that are slapped with charges.
