Two Sentenced to Death Over Susan Magara Murder

Two of Susan Magara’s kidnappers and murderers, Hajjara Nakandi and Buwembo Musa Abbas, have been sentenced to death. The other seven co-conspirators have been condemned to spend the rest of their natural lives in prison.

High Court Judge Alex Mackay Ajiji stated that evidence revealed the horrific nature of the crimes committed by Nakandi and Buwembo.

 Specifically, Buwembo cut off Susan Magara’s fingers, injected her with ketamine, suffocated her, and ultimately strangled her.

Meanwhile, Nakandi acted as the guard for Susan and made the decision to murder her, fearing that the victim would be able to identify them after being held captive for an extended period.

The court has directed the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to confiscate, appraise, and sell all property acquired by the convicts with the ransom money, with the proceeds going to Susan Magara’s family.

This property includes three acres of land purchased for 140 million shillings in Buikwe, an acre of land in Luweero, and several vehicles.

Additionally, the judge ordered the confiscation of three vehicles used during the kidnapping, surveillance, and disposal of Susan Magara’s body.

Justice Ajiji emphasized that the confiscation order aims to prevent the convicts from benefiting from the proceeds of their crimes.

This case marks the last ruling delivered by Justice Ajiji, who is set to retire from the judiciary upon reaching the mandatory retirement age.
