FDC to Elect Presidential Flag Bearer in June

The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has officially unveiled its electoral roadmap for the 2025/2026 elections, with plans to elect the party’s Presidential Flag Bearer in June 2025.

The announcement was made by the FDC Electoral Commission Chairman, Boniface Teterebuka Bamwenda, during the launch of the roadmap at the party headquarters in Najjanankumbi.

According to the detailed schedule, the party will begin by allowing prospective candidates to pick up nomination forms on March 10th and 11th, 2025. Nominations will then be officially received at the party headquarters on March 17th and 18th, 2025.

The party is also set to conduct its primaries at all levels from April 21st to May 2nd, 2025, ahead of the final selection.

“The FDC is committed to ensuring a democratic and transparent election process. We are preparing to elect our presidential flag bearer and candidates for other key positions for the 2026 general elections,” said Bamwenda.

Following the nomination period, campaigns will commence on March 19th and run until June 18th, 2025, providing candidates ample time to engage with party members and the public. A crucial part of the process will also involve the cleaning of the voter register, which is scheduled to take place from June 4th to 7th, 2025.

“The campaigns are an essential part of this process, and we look forward to a vibrant and competitive campaign period,” Bamwenda added.

The FDC’s presidential flag bearer election is set to culminate in a National Delegates Conference on June 20th, 2025, where the party will officially elect its candidate for the 2026 elections.

After the flag bearer is selected, the FDC will engage in harmonization discussions with other political partners regarding candidates for the presidential, parliamentary, and local government elections. This process will take place from June 21st to July 21st, 2025.

“This harmonization will ensure that we present a united front with our political partners as we prepare for the general elections in 2026,” Bamwenda concluded.
