Kampala Land Boss David Balondemu Sent Back on Remand

The Kampala  District Land Board Chairperson David  Balondemu has been further remanded to Luzira prison until Wednesday.

Buganda Road court has been unable to determine his bail application due to the absence of the police file.

Balondemu has spent 6 days on remand  on charges of conspiring with  a Mulago Hospital Medic  Hassan Segujja to forge a medical form .

The duo had been issued a warrant of arrest until  their arrest on  13th/ October 2023, police arrested Balondemu on his return from a trip in Dubai at Entebbe International  Airport .

He was on Tuesday last week  arraigned before chief magistrate Ronald Kayizzi and denied charges of forgery and Conspiracy to commit a felony.

It’s stated that last year in Kampala Balodemu and others still atlarge , knowingly and fraudulently  conspired to make a false  prescription medical form  dated 7th/ November 2023.

This is the  4th  time Balondemu is remanded to Luzira prison followung his troubles that  stem  from the year 2023 when he was arraigned before the same Court on charges of obtaining money by false pretences where he needed a medical document to back his application  for  release on bail.

Balondemu then brought the contentious medical form to court but it was later withdrawn by his lawyers, as a result the state decided to levy charges of forgery against him and Dr. Segujja who allegedly authored the medical form showing that Balondemu was due for a medical surgery at a Kampala Hospital.

Even though the obtaining of money  charges have since been withdrawn for lack of evidence, the state is determined to take on Balondemu for forgery.
