Police have launched a hunt for a man identified as Godi Muwonge, after a woman he was intimate with died in a lodge in Nsangi in Kyengera town council.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Muwonge met the deceased, who has since been identified by one name, Patricia, in a bar.
They went to Sanyuka Lodge on September 7 at around 4am and paid 10,000 shillings for a room.
For two days, Sanyuka Lodge management said Muwonge and Patricia were drinking alcohol and residing in the lodge, However, on Tuesday Muwonge and Patricia returned when the woman was too drunk and could barely walk.
It is reported that while in their room, Patricia’s condition became worse and Muwonge tried to stablise her using milk but in vain.
Patrick Onyango, the Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson, said police suspects that Muwonge fled when he realised that Patricia’s condition was getting worse. She was discovered dead on Wednesday by Sanyuka Lodge staff.
Nsangi police have indicated in their report that they were notified by Sanyuka Lodge staff and they examined the scene, recorded witness statements, and recovered the milk container. Police has since conveyed Patricia’s body to the city mortuary for a postmortem examination.
“Nsangi Police Division has opened a death enquiry file to investigate the circumstances surrounding Patricia’s death. The postmortem report may provide crucial insights into the cause of death,” Onyango said.
According to friends who spoke to the police, Patricia was a commercial sex worker and would often be booked by men for days. She owned a rented room at Kasenge, Kyengera town council, where she would often offer her sex work services or be taken to lodges by different men.
