Three people, including the Security Manager of Mei-Lin International Hotel, have been remanded to Luzira Prison on charges of aiding the escape of a wanted robbery suspect, Kennedy Nsubuga.
Nsubuga, who is wanted on charges of robbing unspecified items from Presidential Advisor Jennifer Nakangubi, commonly known as Full Figure, is the husband of former Presidential Advisor Justine Namere.
A few weeks ago, Nakangubi was captured in a viral social media video being beaten by unknown thugs on a city street. The attackers were later seen entering a vehicle parked nearby.
Records indicate that a police team led by CID Deputy Commander Noreen Akello stormed Mei-Lin hotel on Macknon Road, Nakasero in search of Nsubuga and his wife Namere. They were informed that Namere had driven out and her return time was unknown, while staff claimed ignorance of Nsubuga’s whereabouts, despite the couple having checked into the hotel two weeks earlier.
As a result, three people—Juma Kakooza, the Security Manager at the Hotel; Jessy Lugeya, an electrical engineer and and James Asiimwe, a resident of Kira Municipality—were charged with being accessories after the fact.
Court heard that the three and others still at large, on September 3, 2025, at Mei-Lin International Hotel in Kampala, knowingly assisted Nsubuga—wanted for robbery to escape.
The accused pleaded not guilty and were remanded until October 3, 2025.
