Joshua Baraka Gets Mention in Top Tier African Rising Artistes  

A 2025 survey by Rolling Stone Africa Magazine has named Ugandan artiste Joshua Baraka as one of most promising new artistes in Africa.

According to their findings, The 24 year old singer’s talents resonate with many local music fans in Uganda, the neighboring countries and many parts of Africa where African music is consumed plus the diaspora.

Baraka gained widespread recognition two years ago with his viral hit NANA, which propelled him to stardom. His subsequent achievements include nominations for Trace and AFRIMMA awards, touring Europe as the opening act for Bien, collaborations with artists like Joe boy, Ghetts, JAE5, and FAVE, and being named a Spotify Africa Radar artist

Other artistes that the magazine has recognized are Usimamane, a South African based hiphop artiste and a rapper, Widgunz, a rapper from Ivory Coast, Xlim kid, a rapper from Kumasi, Ghana, Ronisia, a cape verdean female artiste and a 2023 BET nominee, Rebo from DR. Congo among others

The Magazine writer believes the future of African music is brighter because of the first time in history, the continent’s musical output is steadily influencing the trajectory of global pop music and this influence is evidenced by chart-topping dance tracks achieving global recognition on streaming platforms sand an unprecedented number of entries on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
