Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the murder of Otim Simon Peter, a 44-year-old ex-convict, who was shot and stabbed to death at his home in Sebina zone, Kalerwe, Mulago III Parish, Kawempe Division in Kampala District last evening.
The incident occurred around 8:30 pm while Otim was in his sitting room with his wife, daughter, and a visitor. Two unidentified men, one armed with a gun and the other with a knife, allegedly gained entry into the house and attacked Otim, shooting him in the chest and stabbing him multiple times in the stomach and neck.
Otim’s wife and daughter escaped to the bedroom and locked themselves in, screaming for help as the assailants attempted to gain entry. Neighbors responded to the screams and found Otim lying in a pool of blood.
According to Patrick Onyango, Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Otim was rushed to Mulago National Referral Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police have documented the scene, recorded witness statements, and recovered a live ammunition and a cartridge from the scene.
Onyango says investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend the suspects.
