The National Unity Platform has released a list of its flagbearers at the local government level. According to the list, the Kampala Lord Mayor candidate is going to be Ronald Balimwezo Nsubuga, who is currently the MP for Nakawa East.
Ali Bukeni, commonly known as Nubian Li, is going to be NUP’s flagbearer for Nakawa Division. Nubian Li is a long-time singing partner of Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, aka Bobi Wine, who is the President of NUP.
Nubian Li replaces the current Mayor Charles Mugambe, who had expressed interest in retaining the position as NUP party flagbearer. For Kampala Central, Moses Kataabu has been selected as the flagbearer, whereas Lusagala Bosco has been chosen to be the flagbearer for Makindye Division. Ali Kasirye Mulyannyama, the current mayor, is contesting for the Makindye West Member of Parliament position.
Mbelezze Zacky Mawula and Emmanuel Sserunjoji have retained their positions as NUP flagbearers for Lubaga and Kawempe divisions, respectively.
Most of the councillors at KCCA have been retained as flagbearers for the 2026 general election. The party has also released candidates for the different districts across the country for both district chairperson and councillors.
The NUP Election Management Committee, headed by Harriet Chemutai, is yet to release the list of flagbearers for Members of Parliament.
