The opposition National Economic Empowerment Dialogue (NEED), has publicly praised Kenyan President William Ruto’s bold move to sack his entire cabinet in a bid to tackle corruption.
While speaking to media at the party weekly press briefing held at party headquarters in Lubaga Kampala today, the party spokesperson Moses Matovu commended the President’s decisive action, stating that it demonstrates a strong commitment to addressing the scourge of corruption that has plagued the country.
Matovu urged Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni to follow suit, saying that a similar move would send a strong message that corruption will no longer be tolerated in Uganda.
According to Matovu, Uganda needs a similar shake-up in the government to rid ourselves of corrupt officials who have held the country back for far too long.
He adds that NEED fully supports President Ruto’s efforts to restore transparency and accountability in Kenya’s government and hopes to see similar reforms in Uganda soon.
Ruto’s move has sparked a lively debate in the country, with many Ugandans calling for President Museveni to take similar action against corrupt officials in his government.
