DCIC’s Comprehensive Operation on Illegal Foreigners Yields 135 Arrests

The Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control (DCIC) carried out an operation last weekend on illegal foreigners and arrested 135 suspects.

According to Lydia Nakiwala the deputy spokesperson Ministry of Internal Affairs, the crackdown on illegal immigrants took place in various areas of Kampala, including Kabalagala, Kasanga, Muyenga, and Gaba.

The arrested individuals, including nationals from Eritrea, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Somalia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and China, are currently in custody and will face court proceedings.

Penalties for illegal immigration may include fines, imprisonment, and deportation.

 

The Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control (DCIC) conducts daily operations to ensure orderly and legal migration in Uganda.

The ministry has urged all foreign nationals to obtain the necessary immigration facilities, such as work permits, student passes, and dependent passes, to avoid legal consequences.

Meanwhile the Ministry of Internal Affairs is calling on Ugandans who applied for visas to Saudi Arabia but failed to collect their passports to do so at the ministry’s headquarters.

 

Over 100 passports returned by the Saudi Arabian embassy are waiting to be collected at the ministry.
