Security Guard Committed to High Court for Trial Over TikToker’s Murder

Former Gibeon Security Systems guard Marvin Webisa will stand trial in the High Court for the alleged murder of former Kyanja-based TikToker Diana Namulinde, commonly known as Diana Skyz, following his committal by the City Hall Magistrates Court in Kampala. Webisa was on Wednesday committed by City Hall Senior Principal Magistrate Grade Nicholas Aisu after the court was satisfied that police and the State had completed investigations into the case.

He will face charges of murder, rape and aggravated robbery, which are capital offences handled by the High Court and carry severe penalties upon conviction. The prosecution requested that Webisa be committed to the High Court for trial after presenting an indictment containing a summary of the evidence intended to be relied upon against him.

According to the indictment signed by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions through City Hall Resident State Attorney Hanifa Kasana, the State alleges that on February 4, 2026, at Kyanja Kwata Zone in Kampala District, Webisa and others still at large unlawfully had sexual intercourse with Namulinde without her consent, murdered her with malice aforethought and robbed her of property valued at approximately 18.62 million shillings.

The prosecution alleges that the stolen property included an iPhone 17 Pro Max, a Samsung Galaxy A15 mobile phone, a power bank, ear pods, a black laptop bag, 19 handbags, a white suitcase, seven T-shirts, shoes, boots and other personal belongings. Court heard that Namulinde was living alone in a rented apartment in Kyanja, which was guarded by Gibeon Security Systems, where Webisa was reportedly deployed.

The prosecution alleges that on the day of the incident, Webisa unlawfully entered Namulinde’s residence, sexually assaulted her and later strangled her before taking her belongings.

According to the State’s summary of evidence, Webisa was later taken to police by fellow security guards after he was allegedly found in possession of expensive items that he could not satisfactorily explain.

The prosecution told court that Webisa allegedly claimed he had obtained some of the items after snatching them from a woman he encountered while riding on a boda boda. Police say Webisa surrendered a SIM card recovered from one of the phones, and investigators later established that it belonged to Namulinde after tracing the line through her TikTok account.

The prosecution further states that police visited Namulinde’s residence after linking the recovered items to a resident of the apartment complex where Webisa worked. Investigators allegedly found signs of a break-in and discovered Namulinde’s body inside the residence.

The State says it will rely on several exhibits during trial, including the postmortem report, medical examination reports, scene of crime reports, photographs, forensic DNA and biological analysis, recovered property, exhibit inventories and witness statements from police officers, investigators, the apartment owner and other witnesses.

The prosecution maintains that the recovered property was positively identified as belonging to Namulinde and says it will present evidence seeking to prove the charges against Webisa.

Webisa will plead to the charges before the High Court. He will remain on remand at Luzira Prison until the High Court receives his file and schedules the trial.
