Couple Found Dead, Police Probe Suspected Domestic Violence

Police in Mubende District have launched investigations after a couple was found dead inside their home in Nabingola Town Council in what authorities suspect to be a case of domestic violence. The incident occurred on the evening of April 20, 2026, in Luwesama Cell, where the deceased have been identified as Tumusiime Ronald, 37, a teacher, and Kamukama Justine, 40, a businesswoman.

According to Wamala Regional Police Spokesperson SSP Lameck Kigozi, the incident came to light at around 5:00 pm after a neighbor, Senabulya Elvis, heard the couple’s two-year-old child crying from inside the locked house. Kigozi said the neighbor became concerned and decided to check on the situation.

“After peeping through a bedroom window, Senabulya saw the bodies of the couple lying on the floor in a pool of blood,” Kigozi said. He added that the neighbor immediately alerted local leaders, who in turn notified Nabingola Police. Officers later responded to the scene together with the Mubende homicide team. Police forced entry into the house, which had been locked from the inside using padlocks.

According to Kigozi, preliminary findings indicate that there had been a violent altercation before the deaths. “Police noted clear signs of a physical struggle, including broken household items scattered throughout the room. Both bodies had deep cut wounds,” he said.

Kigozi condemned domestic violence and urged the public to seek help in abusive situations. “We condemn all forms of domestic violence and advise all our people who find themselves victims of abusive marriages to always come out openly to authorities for assistance,” he said.

The bodies were taken to Mubende Hospital for postmortem examination as investigations into the matter continue.
