State House Unit Swoops in to Arrest Parliamentary Candidate after Nomination

The State House Anti-Corruption Unit has arrested a Mukono South Parliamentary candidate for allegedly masterminding a job for sale racket at the Mukono district local government.

Mubarak Ssekikubo is the current Chairperson for Nakisunga Sub County in Mukono South and he was earlier nominated to contest for the Mukono South Parliamentary seat.

The media coordinator from the State House Anti-Corruption Unit Emmanuel Bunnya notes that Ssekikubo has been declining summons to record a statement until he was tracked to the nomination grounds.

Bunnya notes that charges of obtaining money by false pretence, impersonation and bribery await him after investigations.

Prior to his arrest, at the nomination venue, Ssekikubo denied allegations of selling government jobs calling the allegations baseless and politically motivated.

The state House Anti-Corruption Unit stormed Mukono district around May this year causing the arrest of the Mukono district speaker Betty Nakasi Hope and the Chairperson for the district service commission Eng. Dr. Godfrey Kibuuka Kisuule on allegations of selling district jobs and since then the commission was suspended pending thorough investigations.
