Buganda Road court has released on bail a group of five women affiliated to the FDC- katonga faction who have spent 3 weeks om remand on charges of being a nuisancs on the road.
The women are Deputy Lord Mayor Doreen Nyanjura, Ingrid Turinawe, Faridah Nangozi, Namubiru Shadia and Kabayiza Phiona who missed court last time because they din’t have appropriate clothes to wear to attend court since prison authorities barred them from wearing T-shirts that had political inscriptions.
Today the women were broght to court while donning Navy -blue T-shirts and trousers with red, black and Yellow scarfs thus reflecting thier PFP uniform.
They are facing charges of being nuisances on the road as they were arrested in Kampala City marching and protesting the continued detention of Dr. Kiiza Besigye and other political prionsers.
Each of them has been ordered to execute a non -cash bond of 500, 000 shillings.
The group’s arrests occurred on the 18th of February at Arua Park, Kampala, where they were protesting the alleged mistreatment of Dr Besigye and demanding his immediate release.
Besigye remains incarcerated in Luzira prison following charges of treason filed against him at Nakawa magistrates court, he returns to court on Friday 14th March.
