Two children have died after being electrocuted in Masindi Municipality.
The devastating incident happened on Monday afternoon in Southern Cell, Central Division of Masindi Municipality.
The two children, aged between 1 and 4, lost their lives near a furniture workshop where a tenant only identified as Tom had illegally connected electricity to operate his workshop.
The children belong to Anita Juliet Kusemererwa, a teacher at Asaba Nursery and Primary School in Masindi municipality.
Preliminary reports indicate that as the children were playing near the furniture workshop, they reportedly stepped on live wires and got electrocuted instantly.
Godfrey Musindi, the LC1 Chairperson for Southern Cell, expressed shock and concern over the incident, warning community members about the dangers of illegally connecting electricity.
He says, they have lost innocent children who would have made a significant contribution to the community in the future.
Pensive Tukasiima, the District Police Commander (DPC) Masindi, condemned the act of illegal connection of electricity noting that it is criminal.
She has assured the public that a thorough investigation would be conducted to ensure that the suspect is apprehended for justice to prevail.
“The police are currently investigating the matter, and efforts are being made to apprehend the suspect responsible for the illegal connection, “said Tukasiima.
