Ssemujju and FDC Compatriots Set Free, Charges Dropped

Buganda Road  Court has dropped  charges of being being a common nuisance  against 14 members of the Opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), Katonga Faction.

The suspects who including Deputy Kampala Lord Mayor Doreen Nyanjura, Kira Municipality MP Hon. Ssemujju Ibrahim Nganda and Kabale Municipality MP Hon. Kamara Nicholas Thadeus among others were charged in August 2024 with being a common nuisance for  engaging in unlawful activities by being rowdy and blocking walkways, thereby obstructing and inconveniencing the public along Katonga Road in Kampala. .

Police said they committed the offence as they planned to march to the Kenyan High commission to seek answers for their arrested colleagues.

The group was intending to deliver a petition to the Kenyan High Commission, protesting the arrest and extradition of 36 of their members from Kisumu, Kenya.

Chief Magistrate Ronald Kayizzi has however has  dismissed the charges after prosecution failed  to produce any single  witness to testify.

The suspects however still have similar charges against them before the same Court.
