Sammy Pleads for Medical Help in Apology Letter to M7

Mighty Family comedian Sam Okanya commonly known as Sammy is begging for Medical Assistance from President Museveni.

In a recent letter to the president that he posted online under the ‘Da Mighty Family’ handle, Sammy expressed remorse for the things he did to President Museveni including political blackmail, insults, or disrespect using social media and swore that he will never do it again.

“I am writing to offer my sincerest apologies for any political blackmail, insults, or disrespect I may have directed towards you or your administration. I realize that my actions were unacceptable and I’m truly sorry for any offense or discomfort caused,” he wrote in the post.

He also requested the President to assist him with money to help him get the necessary medical attention that he needs.

“I humbly request your consideration for medical treatment and surgery to address my urinary dysfunctionality. This condition has significantly impacted my quality of life, and I believe that with your support, I can access the necessary medical care,” he requested.

He further said that his assistance will enable him get quality treatment from a reputable hospital because the ordinary health centres cannot handle his complications.

“I will be grateful if you could consider facilitating my treatment at a reputable hospital, either locally or abroad, depending on the expertise required. I am prepared to provide detailed medical reports and any additional information needed to facilitate this process,” he added.

He advised youth to respect and appreciate what the government has done for its citizens.

“I am grateful for your leadership and the opportunities Uganda offers its citizens. I commit to being a responsible and contributing member of society, supporting initiatives that promote the well-being of our nation. Thank you for considering my request. I look forward to your response.

He was arrested and detained for several months in 2024 over his social media videos that were insulting different government officials including President Museveni.

He said some of the sicknesses troubling him were as a result of the long detention without trial.

Sammy was detained at Kitalya Prison, having been arrested last year in July as he participated in the #March2Parliament protests. He was released in late November.
