Police in Kabarole District are hunting for a Senior Five student of Rutete Secondary School, who is accused of participating in the brutal beating and eventual death of her boyfriend following a dispute.
According to a statement released by Vincent Twesige, the Rwenzori West Police Spokesperson, the suspect, Aisha Katusiime, is currently on the run after allegedly leading an assault that resulted in the death of Gilbert Amanyire, aged 25.
Katusiime and the deceased were residents of Imaranjara Zone, Rutete Sub-county in Kabarole District, where the incident occurred. Twesige said the two reportedly disagreed on the night of July 25, which escalated after Amanyire, in a fit of anger, took Katusiime’s clothes to her mother’s home and set them on fire.
In retaliation, Katusiime allegedly mobilized her two brothers—identified only as Karuhanga and Baguma—along with their mother, Keredoniya Kechimina, and together they reportedly assaulted Amanyire until he lost consciousness.
He was rushed to Rutete Health Centre IV, then referred to Fort Portal Regional Referral Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Police have since arrested Keredoniya, the mother of the prime suspect, as investigations continue and the search for the remaining suspects intensifies.
