Nandala Grabs FDC Flag for Presidential Race
NEED Party Suspends Founding President Kabuleta
The Opposition NEED party has suspended its president, Joseph Kizza Kabuleeta, for 90 days…
The opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party has declared Nathan Nandala Mafabi as its presidential flag bearer for the 2026 general elections.
This move follows a significant development where party president Patrick Oboi Amuriat (POA) stepped down in favor of Mafabi.
This decision comes after intense internal negotiations and consultations spearheaded by senior party leaders and elders. Amuriat, who carried the FDC flag in the 2021 presidential elections, reportedly accepted the elders’ plea to step aside, allowing Mafabi to take the reins.
Patrick Oboi Amuriat, the FDC president, has announced his decision to step aside and endorse Nathan Nandala Mafabi as the party’s presidential flag bearer for the 2026 general elections. Amuriat cited his 28-year-long association with Mafabi and his loyalty to the FDC as key reasons for his decision.
Amuriat emphasized the importance of unity within the party, stating that his decision to step down is a testament to his commitment to the FDC’s success.
Nathan Nandala Mafabi, the newly endorsed presidential flag bearer of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), has expressed his gratitude and commitment to leading the party forward.
Mafabi views the endorsement as a significant achievement, recognizing the trust and confidence placed in him by the party’s leadership and members.
Meanwhile, Jack Sabiiti, the FDC chairman, says the party delegates conference that had earlier scheduled for July 31, 2025, to elect the presidential flag bearer has been therefore called off.
