The Minister for Kampala Minsa Kabanda has blamed prostitutes for the dark spots on city streets despite installation of street lights.
Kabanda says it has been discovered that many of the street lights installed to illuminate the city streets are vandalised by prostitutes who prefer to conduct their business under the cover of darkness.
“When your out them there, at night they come and remove the batteries, when we put people there to keep these lights these prostitutes come as a group and beat this person.” Kabanda stated.
Meanwhile Minsa Kabanda has revealed that the city authorities have secured land on mityana road in Bujjuko where they are set to begin dumping garbage collected from Kampala.
The minister says starting tomorrow (Thursday) they will be dumping garbage there.
Kampala Capital City Authority has been in a race against time to find a dumpsite following the kiteezi landfill collapse in August that killed over 30 people.
The minister narrated the ordeal faced by city authorities who were turned away by local leaders with jurisdictional authority over the various alternative dumpsites that KCCA had hoped to secure.
Minsa Kabanda was presenting the performance of the ministry of Kampala at the NRM manifesto week at the office of the president.
