Gov’t Opens Recruitment Exercise for Over 2,200 Secondary School Teachers

The education service commission has announced a recruitment exercise of 2,821 staff in 91 seed schools across the country.

This follows a staffing gap in the education sector at the secondary level and technical colleges which stands at 30%.

Each school will receive 31 staff which will constitute 2 administrators, 6 non teaching staff and 23 teaching staff for different subjects.

Under this exercise each school will get 7 degree teachers for arts and 7 degree teachers for sciences in addition to 4 diploma teachers for sciences and 5 diploma teachers for arts.

In total 637 degree teachers for sciences will be employed,and the same number will be employed in arts while for diploma science teachers 364 will be employed in addition to 455 diploma arts teachers.

546 non teaching staff in total will be employed in the 91 schools.

According to Rev, Prof, Dr Samuel Luboga,the chairperson of the commission qualified persons are invited to apply for the vacant positions in the seed schools built under the Uganda inter government fiscal transfer program (UGIFT). And the receiving of applications will close on 10th january 2025.

He was addressing the press on Friday at the media centre in Kampala.

Applicants are advised to apply for only one post and only one school of their choice and each successful candidate shall serve at the seed school for only 5 years before becoming eligible for transfer,adds Lubago.

“This exercise is open to all eligible staff within government services and those serving in the private sector and it’s free of charge so don’t be mislead to paying money to any one,” Luboga advised.

Luboga says that this recruitment exercise will cost Ugx 1.3bn.
