Comedian Sammy in High Spirits following Transfer to Mulago

Comedian Sammy Okanyahas been transferred from the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) hospital in Bombo Barracks to Mulago National Referral Hospital.

He was transferred with the assistance of colleagues like Abaho Frank and Moses Ssali aka Bebe Cool on Wednesday 22^nd,July,2025

Speaking in a recorded video while in transit to Kampala, Okanya said that he now feels better getting an operation that allows him to pass urine using assisted technology.

“ I thank everyone who has contributed to this cause and I urge the general public to support me until I get back to work,” he said.

He thanked artistes like Lil Pazo and others that made sure he gets medical attention.

Sammy was jailed in 2024 for several offences that included computer misuse, he was always seen online allegedly insulting political leaders of the National Resistance Movement .

He was later arrested and charged for these crimes and released on bail in November, 2024.

He claims the sicknesses and ailments he is suffering were as a result of the bad conditions of the prison facilities and the torture he went through while in custody at the Central Police Station in Kampala .
