Uganda is now among the top three countries in Africa, after Burundi and DR Congo with the highest of confirmed mpox cases.

Uganda’s Parliament has raised concerns about the mpox outbreak following reports of its spread within the country.

This declaration, made by the CDC Director-General, Dr. Jean Kaseya, is not merely a procedural announcement but a stern call to action. As the Mpox virus continues to wreak havoc across the continent, the urgency of this situation cannot be overstated.

Dr. Gilbert Mateeka, the Kabale District Health Officer, presented alarming statistics during the dialogue. The national teenage pregnancy rate has stagnated between 23% and 24% over the past three to four years.

Dr. Luswata emphasized that the removal of funding for ambulance maintenance is a grave issue that could lead to catastrophic consequences.
