Artist Vinka’s Fiancé Nominated to Contest for Isingiro West County Seat

Nelson Witta, Musician Vinka’s spouse, has been nominated by the Electoral Commission (EC) to contest for the Isingiro West County seat as an independent candidate.

Vinka’s presence surprised people who had gathered outside the district headquarters, where the electoral commission was doing the verification and nominations.

Witta was among the people who presented themselves for nomination, escorted by nominators and seconders who included Vinka as his seconder.

Speaking to the press shortly after his nomination, Witta said that he will put his focus on improving the poor road network, which is affecting trade in the district, yet his county borders Tanzania.

“Roads are in a bad state; they have remained in the same state for the last 20 years. Farmers’ Matooke have remained cheap because of the poor roads, but this is caused by the lack of a person to lobby for our area”. He said.

He said the Health sector in the district is very appalling, and universal primary education has faced a setback, noting that pupils who are supposed to study for free are paying.

“President Museveni introduced UPE to allow free education, which has failed its core base of introduction. Schools are chasing away pupils because they haven’t paid school fees. Other schools pay high fees, so I will fight hard to get it back to its principles”. He said.

Vinka asked the Isingiro West electorate to vote for her husband, sayin Uganda deserves young people like him to stir development.

The other candidate to be nominated was minister Bright Rwamirama, the NRM Party flagbearer vying to return as the Isingiro North member of parliament for his fourth term.

After his nomination, Rwamirama pledged to increase his efforts towards service delivery, especially through the government programs for the youth, women, and elderly.

Before his nomination, Rwamirama met with Isingiro district civil servants in a closed-door meeting, but later revealed that he was urging them to work towards the implementation of the NRM party manifesto.
