The Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, has urged musicians to avoid violence and instead foster peace and unity within the industry.
Mayiga’s remarks came in response to a recent altercation between musicians Pius Mayanja, popularly known as Pallaso, and Patrick Mulwana, alias Alien Skin.
The dispute escalated when Pallaso and his gang reportedly raided Alien Skin’s residence in Makindye, just hours after a confrontation in Buloba.
Videos circulating on social media show Pallaso leading his group as they caused damage to property.
Witnesses reported that Alien Skin hid in the ceiling to escape harm, later emerging after Pallaso and his group had left.
Speaking to the press on Tuesday, Mayiga encouraged artists to focus on positive contributions to society rather than engaging in violent behavior.
He warned of the serious consequences such actions could bring.
“Musicians must practice discipline and avoid violence. Recently, Alien Skin and Pallaso fought and nearly harmed each other. Why not come together, address their differences, and allow leaders like us to mediate?” he said.
Mayiga questioned the motives behind the violence.
“What drives them to use hammers and machetes? What if someone were to lose their life because of such actions?”
He also highlighted how violence impacts the music industry, particularly by instilling fear among concertgoers.
“Such incidents make fans hesitant to attend shows. What if I go to Alien Skin’s concert and end up being attacked with machetes or stones? What is causing this conflict that prevents reconciliation?”
