Civil society organisations United in the fight against corruption have reiterated their call for the passing of the proceeds of crime bill.
Marlon Agaba the executive director Anti corruption coalition Uganda (ACCU) says the country loses Ugx 9.14 tn to corruption annually, however combined asset recoveries by all anti corruption agencies have stagnated below Ugx 30bn annually which is still low.
Agaba says if president Museveni is indeed serious about fighting corruption as he says there has to be more effort at recovering proceeds of corruption.
Agaba says if this bill is not passed, those persons convicted of corruption will still beable to enjoy their ill gotten wealth after serving their sentences.
