Miss Tourism Uganda 2026 Launches with Focus on AI, Culture and Tourism

The search for Miss Tourism Uganda 2026 is officially underway, with organisers unveiling this year’s edition under the theme “AI, Culture and Tourism,” a concept aimed at exploring how technology can support the promotion of Uganda’s heritage.

The pageant, which was launched last week at Kampala Serena Hotel, will roll out regional activations across the country in early 2026, marking the beginning of a nationwide search for contestants. The initiative continues to position itself as a platform for young Ugandans to engage with and promote the country’s diverse cultural identity.

Organisers say this year’s theme reflects a growing recognition of the role technology can play in tourism. While culture remains central as a representation of identity and history, tools such as artificial intelligence are increasingly being viewed as a means to amplify storytelling, enhance visibility, and support conservation efforts within the sector.

Speaking at the launch, reigning queen Nachap Kezia Cindy called on young women across the country to take part in the competition, describing it as an inclusive platform that offers opportunity from the grassroots level. She encouraged aspiring contestants to embrace the process, noting that participation begins at regional stages and can open doors to broader exposure.

According to Nachap, Miss Tourism Uganda provides a space for young women to confidently showcase their potential while contributing to the promotion of Uganda’s tourism and cultural heritage.

In a shift that reflects the pageant’s evolving structure, organisers also highlighted the introduction of a parallel programme for male participants, first implemented in 2025. The move marked a departure from the competition’s previous female-only format and is intended to expand its reach and overall impact.

With preparations now underway, the 2026 edition is expected to build on this expanded framework while continuing to spotlight Uganda’s cultural richness through a platform that blends tradition with emerging technological influence.
