Three Suspects Arrested over Death of TikToker in Kyanja Apartment

At least three suspects have been arrested by the Kira Road Police Division in connection with the death of a famous 24-year-old TikToker who was strangled to death in her apartment.

The deceased has been identified as Diana Namulinde, alias Skys, alias RichWife, a TikToker who was living alone in an apartment in Kyata Zone, located in Kyanja parish, Kawempe Division.

Police preliminary findings indicate that her body was discovered on Wednesday after her friends went to check on her and found her apartment open, with the deceased lying dead on her bed.

Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, said a team of homicide detectives has since visited and documented the scene. Several exhibits were recovered, and statements from relevant witnesses were recorded.

Police noted that it has also arrested a security guard attached to the premises after he was found in possession of items suspected to have been stolen.

Police said some of the recovered items were identified as belonging to the deceased.  “So far, three suspects have been identified, and two have been arrested to assist with investigations. The body of the deceased has been conveyed to KCCA Mulago City Mortuary for postmortem examination as investigations continue,” Owoyesigyire said.

Reports from her close friends who made it to the scene of the crime said the deceased was first sexually assaulted by the assailants, who allegedly did not take anything. However, police have treated the case as an aggravated robbery and murder by strangulation.

Uganda recorded more than 4,000 homicide cases in 2024, averaging 12 killings per day. The victims were killed through various means, including assault, poisoning, arson, shooting, domestic violence, and mob action, totaling 4,329 deaths.
