Racheal Kawala Appointed Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson

The Inspector General of Police, Abas Byakagaba, has appointed Superintendent of Police -SP Racheal Kawala, as the new public relations officer for Kampala metropolitan.

Kawala, who has been the Wamala region spokesperson, replaces Patrick Onyango. 

Onyango has been appointed as a staff officer at the Chief Political Commissariat (CPC), However, his duties were yet to be spelt out.

Onyango said he was waiting for clear information about his transfer and the aligned duties. He said he had yet to receive an officer transfer message.

Kawala has reportedly been replaced with Lameck Kigozi, who was moved to CPC in February last year. At the time of his transfer, Kigozi was the deputy Regional Police Commander of Kidepo region.

Kawala will be speaking for over 20 policing divisions in the districts of Kampala, Wakiso, and Mukono. These divisions include CPS, Old Kampala, Wandegeya, Kawempe, Jinja road, Kabalagala, Katwe, Nateete, and Kira road.

Others include Kasangati, Nansana, Kakiri, Wakiso, Nsangi, Kajjansi, Entebbe, Kira Division, Naggalama, and Mukono. Colleagues and media people in the Wamala region, which covers Mityana, Kassanda, Mubende, Kiboga, and Kyankwanzi districts, have already started organising a farewell party for Kawala.
