Uganda Welcomes Russian Influencers to Spotlight the Pearl of Africa.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ugandan Embassy to the Russian Federation have welcomed a delegation of top Russian influencers for a cultural and tourism immersion experience aimed at showcasing Uganda’s beauty, warmth, and adventure to international audiences.
The visit, spearheaded by the Ugandan Embassy in Moscow, marks a significant milestone in the Embassy’s ongoing strategy to position Uganda as a premier destination for Russian travelers. Led by His Excellency Moses K. Kizige, Head of Mission, alongside Ambassador Gideon M. Rutazindwa, Deputy Head of Mission, and First Secretary Georgina Nakawombe, the Embassy has rolled out an ambitious 2025/2026 campaign to market Uganda’s unmatched tourism appeal, rich cultural heritage, and promising investment climate through a series of roadshows and workshops across Russian cities.
This initiative underscores the growing role of digital storytelling and influencer marketing in strengthening Uganda’s international visibility and tourism brand.
The influencers — a mix of lifestyle creators, travel vloggers, and digital content producers — include Linzie Camara, Ksenia Mezentseva, Irina Belousova, and Vladimir Pozhidaev. They arrived in Kampala on November 9 and were treated to an elegant Ugandan welcome dinner at Jikoni Restaurant on Clement Hill.
Hosted by Lucy Bunyenyezi Mulira, Founder of Forking Around Kampala, the evening brought together representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, local influencers, and tourism stakeholders, creating a vibrant platform for cultural exchange and collaboration.
The dinner at Jikoni — known for its authentic and contemporary Ugandan cuisine — offered the guests a first taste of the country’s rich culinary heritage. The menu featured local delicacies such as Luwombo and Tilapia prepared Coastal style, offering a delicious introduction to Uganda’s diverse food culture.
“It was a fantastic way to introduce them to Uganda through food,” said Lucy Bunyenyezi Mulira. “Food tells the story of a nation — its culture, health, and heritage. There’s no better way to connect than through sharing a meal.”
Speaking on behalf of the visiting team, Russian lifestyle and travel blogger Linzie Camara, representing Feliz Tropical Safaris, said the group’s mission is to showcase Uganda through new eyes.
“The entire point of this adventure is to show Uganda as it truly is — authentic, natural, and welcoming,” she said. “As storytellers, we open new perspectives for our audiences, inspiring them to experience Uganda’s nature, culture, and kind people for themselves.”
The influencers will tour several of Uganda’s top attractions, including the Mabamba Swamp Shoebill site, an evening cruise on the Kazinga Channel, Murchison Falls National Park, Bwindi Gorilla Trekking, and game drives in major reserves. Throughout their journey, they will document and share their experiences across digital platforms, reaching millions of global viewers.
“I’ve travelled across Africa, but the Pearl of Africa feels like a hidden gem,” said Vladimir Pozhidaev. “Uganda is exotic, friendly, and full of surprises. I can’t wait to explore its wildlife and culture.”
Margaret A. Kafeero, Head of the Department of Public Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, commended the partnership, noting that it aligns with Uganda’s economic and commercial diplomacy strategy.
“Tourism is one of our key pillars. Influencers and creatives play a vital role in shaping Uganda’s image abroad,” Kafeero said. “Our goal is to build relationships that go beyond commerce — turning visitors into lasting ambassadors for Uganda.”
The activation also highlights the importance of collaboration between local and international influencers in shaping positive narratives about Uganda’s culture, cuisine, and natural beauty.
Felly Mbabazi of FT Safaris will continue working with local partners to ensure the success of the Russian influencers’ visit and foster long-term partnerships that strengthen Uganda’s tourism ecosystem.
