The murder trial in the killing of buisnessman Henry Katanga resumed on Wednesday after a hiccup on Tuesday due to techinical glitches that failed to connect via zoom the main suspect and widow of the deceased Molly Katanga from Luzira women’s prison.
Prosecuciton presented its 7th witness, a pathologist attached to the city mortuary at Mulago National Refferal Hospital.
Dr. Richard Ambayo has also been working with the Uganda Police medical department since 2021 .
He has testfied that on 2nd/ November 2023, the city mortuary recieved a request from Bugolobi police station to examine the body of the late Henry Katanga.
That him with another pathologists Dr. Male Mutumba cut open the already cold and stiff body of Katanga which had on old surgical scar on the buttocks and on the leg.
He testified that the body which was identified to the medics by Katanga’s own daughter Martha Nkwazi had a left an entry bullet wound which fractured the skull and existed from the right side near the ear.
Dr. Ambayo and Dr. Mutumba then concluded in their pathological report that Katanga died of a gun shot wound to his head which was fired at close range .
Dr. Ambayo has further testfied that there was no recovery of any bullet or fragments from the body but took photographs of the postmoterm exercise .
The photographs have been displayed in court and both with the pathological report he co-authored with Dr. Mutumba have been tendered in court as prosecution exbhits .
The widow Molly Katanga and her 2 daughters Martha Nkwanzi and Patricia Kakwanzi are standing trial for Katanga’s murder and destroying valuable evidence.
They are jointly charged with George Amanyire the family’s shamba boy and a nursing officer Charles Otai who are charged with being accessories of the 2nd / November 2023 murder that happened at Chwa 11 Road in Naguru.
